Orthodontic Technology

We employ Orthodontic Technology that ranges from ICAT Scan/Xray Technology to Acceledent which helps shorten the timeline of tooth movement for those patients using braces or other aligner technology. From huge in-office platforms to take home technology, we invest in products and technology that improves our practice, your life and your smile.

We love bringing new pertinent Orthodontic technology into our practice

Below we list several technologies that have improved our patient's lives and improved our ability to diagnose patients, implement planning and solve legitimate orthodontic problems. It's all about our patient's and technology makes a real impact on our patients, in a positive way.

i-CAT Imaging

While CT (computed tomography) imaging has been used in the medical field for over 30 years, it is becoming the new diagnostic tool of choice for orthodontic analysis, diagnosis and treatment planning due to the latest advancements in diagnostic technology such as the revolutionary i-CAT® Cone Beam 3-D Imaging System. This three-dimensional CT technology can provide a quicker full scan of the head than traditional two-dimensional imaging, allowing orthodontists a better visualization of the hard and soft tissues of the craniofacial structures from several perspectives. In addition to the advantages of traditional CT scans, the i-CAT® Cone Beam releases up to 90% less radiation than traditional X-ray machines, enhancing your safety while providing crisp, clear images for more efficient diagnostic analysis and treatment. We feel our modern, cutting-edge techniques ensure you are receiving the quality care you deserve.

The i-CAT® Cone Beam 3-D Imaging System can immediately produce three-dimensional images in under one minute. This in-office, easy-to-use system provides your orthodontist a comprehensive view of all oral and maxillofacial structures, dramatically increasing the efficiency with which your orthodontist is able diagnose your condition and plan for your treatment.

i-CAT® technology is used for:

TMJ assessment

Surgical planning

Assessment of cleft lip and palates

Assessment of the alveolar bone

Impacted tooth position

Facial analysis

Tongue size and posture

Airway assessment

Placement of dental implants

Invisalign and Invisalign Teen

Introducing Invisalign® — The Straightest Way to a Great Smile

Invisalign straightens your teeth without wires and brackets, using a series of clear, customized, removable appliances called aligners. It’s virtually undetectable, which means hardly anyone will know that you’re straightening your teeth.

Clearly Different

The Invisalign System combines advanced 3-D computer graphics technology with 100-year-old science of orthodontics. Invisalign aligners are designed to move your teeth in small steps to the desired final position prescribed by your orthodontist. Each aligner is precisely calibrated and manufactured to fit your mouth at each stage of the treatment plan. Your first step is to visit our office to determine if Invisalign is right for you. After sending precise treatment instructions, Invisalign uses advanced computer technology to translate these instructions in a sequence of finely calibrated aligners – as few as 12 or as many as 48. Each aligner is worn for about two weeks and only taken out to eat, brush and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next, your teeth will begin to move gradually – week-by-week until the final alignment prescribed is attained. Then you'll be smiling like you never have before!

If you want to learn more about Invisalign and how it works, please visit the Invisalign Homepage or our page on the Invisalign treatment process..

To ensure the best possible results, only an orthodontist who has been trained and certified by Align Technology can diagnose and treat using Invisalign. Invisalign is not intended for children and is not appropriate for every adult. Only an orthodontist can determine if this treatment is an effective option for you. Invisalign Teen

Now teens don’t have to worry about embarrassing metal braces in their yearbook photos or Facebook profiles – introducing Invisalign® Teen! Invisalign Teen is the clear way to straighten teeth without metal braces, using aligners. We went to leading orthodontists, parents and teens themselves to custom-design an Invisalign system just right for the dental needs of teenagers. With a Blue Dot Wear Indicator to show how long each aligner has been worn, six free replacement aligners in case some are lost or broken, and other changes designed to accommodate growing mouths, Invisalign Teen is the perfect teeth-straightening system for today’s teens’ busy lifestyles!

AcceleDent

The new AcceleDent™ System, created by OrthoAccel® Technologies, Inc., was made to compliment any sort of orthodontic treatment – whether the patient is using traditional braces, clear aligners or any other orthodontic appliance. The use of this device can potentially reduce a patient’s time in braces or aligners by as much as 50%!

How Does the new AcceleDent™ System Work?

The AcceleDent™ System creates microvibrations in a patient’s mouth in order to remodel the jawbone quicker. This remodeling, coupled with the force created by the patient’s braces/aligners/orthodontic appliances, allows teeth to move into their corrected positions faster, therefore reducing overall treatment time.

This pulsating technique has been scientifically proven to be effective on other parts of the body, such as the use of vibrations to speed up fracture healing in bones. Other medical applications of vibrations include its use by astronauts. When in space, astronauts endure a long period of weightlessness and stand on vibration plates daily in order to prevent muscle deterioration.

You can enhance your orthodontic treatment and decrease your treatment time by using the AcceleDent™ System for just 20 minutes each day! The device has a mouthpiece which looks very similar to a plastic orthodontic retainer or a sports mouthguard. You simply bite down on the mouthpiece, using gentle pressure, and start the activator. You should be biting down hard enough so that you can let go of the device with your hands and still perform other tasks. AcceleDent™ will pulse for the allotted 20 minutes, and after that, you are finished for the day! It’s that simple!

Orthognathic Surgery

Corrective jaw surgery (orthognathic surgery) treats and corrects abnormalities of the facial bones, specifically the jaws and the teeth. Often, these abnormalities cause difficulty associated with chewing, talking, sleeping and other routine activities. Orthognathic surgery corrects these problems and, in conjunction with orthodontic treatment, will improve the overall appearance of the facial profile.

Using the latest in digital imaging technology, we will demonstrate the overall functional and aesthetic benefits of orthognathic surgery. Computerized treatment planning minimizes treatment times, recovery periods and the overall efficacy of your surgery. State-of-the-art materials such as titanium plates and miniature screws provide stability, strength and predictability to your treatment. These advances in technology, procedures and equipment reduce post-surgical recovery time, thus allowing patients to return to their normal routines soon after the surgery.

Orthognathic surgery may be unnecessary if orthodontic treatment can correct the problem. With the latest advances in orthodontics, this is sometimes the case. We will determine if orthognathic surgery is the correct treatment option for you.
