We are pleased to offer orthodontic treatment options outside of traditional braces for patients who prefer discretion and comfort. For example, Invisalign® uses a series of clear aligners that are worn over your teeth for shift their position and enhance your smile. If you aren’t familiar with Invisalign, we invite you to review the following benefits and how they can help you have an excellent orthodontic experience.

1. Invisalign aligners can make treatment comfortable. The smooth, comfortable plastic that makes up the aligners is very comfortable, preventing the tongue, cheeks or lips from becoming irritated or injured.

2. You can remove your aligners at any time. Removable aligners offer control and freedom because they can be taken out whenever you need. While traditional braces cause certain complications with eating and cleaning, these don’t apply to Invisalign.

3. Invisalign treatment doesn’t restrict your food choices. Traditional braces can be harmed by sticky and chewy foods, but your Invisalign appliance can be removed before you eat any of these foods.

4. The clear aligners offer a very discreet treatment. Once worn, the clear plastic material becomes virtually invisible in your mouth.

5. Invisalign can address many of the smile imperfections that affect smiles. Whether you struggle with misaligned teeth, an underbite or overbite, Dr. Tal Jergensen can help you determine if these aligners are right for you.

6. Invisalign works even if you have a busy schedule. Appointments only need to happen about every six weeks, so while we love to have you at Miles of Smiles, you can spend a lot more time outside our office.

To determine if you should receive Invisalign in Temecula, California, please feel free to contact our office at 951-693-9373 today for a consultation with our orthodontists.

Braces used to be associated only with children, and they had a negative stigma that inspired many unpleasant names. Today, it’s very common for both children and adults to receive orthodontic treatment, though some people still find braces scary because they are unsure what to expect from treatment and after. We offer the following tips to help you prepare for braces and have a successful orthodontic experience:

– Treatment length: Overall, it typically takes one to two hours to place braces on your teeth, depending on which type you have chosen.

– Placement process: First, we ensure your teeth are clean and dry before we place a bonding glue on the tooth surfaces that attaches the brackets in place. Next comes the the arch wire, which is usually held in place with elastic bands.

– Comfort: While receiving braces is not uncomfortable, some patients experience soreness in the teeth for a few days following the braces being tightened. This can occur with the monthly adjustments, but should go away after a day or two.

– Diet: To help with the braces adjustment, we recommend eating soft foods that don’t require chewing, such as ice cream, yogurt and soup. Cold foods are a great way to help with any soreness you feel after treatment.

– Remedies: If you have poking wires or your brackets rub against your mouth and cause sores, you can use orthodontic wax to protect your mouth. Persistent sores can be treated with a saltwater rinse that you use for a few days.

Adjusting to braces is a process, but it can be made easy, and Dr. Tal Jergensen and our team are happy to help. We invite you to contact Miles of Smiles at 951-693-9373 today if you would like to learn how to prepare for braces in Temecula, California, from our orthodontists.

Do you have crooked or crowded teeth? Are you hesitant to straighten your teeth with braces because of the metal brackets and wires? Ask Drs. Jergensen and Waddoups about Invisalign® in Temecula, California. Invisalign uses a series of clear aligners to gently straighten your smile over time.

Consultation
When you come in for your consultation, our orthodontists will speak with you about your orthodontic needs and goals. In addition, they will evaluate your smile to determine whether Invisalign is right for you.

Treatment Plan
Our orthodontists will take 3D images of your teeth. Using these images, your treatment plan will be mapped out. Your treatment plan will include things like the projected treatment time and the exact movement of your teeth.

Invisalign Aligners
Your aligners will be custom made to meet your specific needs. Invisalign aligners are virtually invisible, so you can smile with confidence during treatment! We recommend that you wear your Invisalign aligners for 20 to 22 hours a day. Take out your aligners when you eat and when you brush and floss your teeth.

Straightening Progress
Each set of aligners will gently and slowly move your teeth towards their ideal positions. Our orthodontists may recommend that you advance to the next set of aligners about weekly. Your checkup appointments should be scheduled about every six weeks.

After Treatment
After your Invisalign treatment, we may recommend that you wear a retainer to stabilize the new positions of your teeth.

Feel free to contact Miles of Smiles at 951-693-9373 today for more information and to set up a consultation.
